on the west coast of southern Thailand.
It covers an area of approximately 4709 sq km, and the province is
bounded by Phang Nga and Surathani provinces from the North,
Trang province and the Andaman Sea from the South,
Trang and Nakorn Si Thammarat provinces from the East
and Phang Nga province and the Andaman Sea from the West.
Andaman Sea destinations like the Phi Phi Islands are accessible by ferry.
This location in Thailand is subject to a six month rainy season between
May and November, often with sustained heavy rains for days at a
time during the monsoons.
The province includes more then 80 smaller islands, such as Koh Lanta and
Phi Phi, which is well-known to adventurers, yachtsmen, scuba-divers,
snorkelers, and day-trippers from Phuket.
The beaches attract both native Thai people and foreigners.
