Thailand is a Southeast Asian country. It's known for tropical beaches,

opulent royal palaces, ancient ruins  and ornate temples

displaying figures of Buddha.

 

It is a constitutional monarcy and it is the world's 50th-largest country.

It is the 20th-most-populous country in the world,

with around 66 million people.  

Thailand is the only Southeast Asian country never

to have been taken over by a European power.

A revolution in 1932 led to a constitutional monarchy.

 

The word Thailand means ”Land of the free”

Thailand was known a Siam until 1939.

 

With a total area of approximately 513,000 km2 (198,000 sq mi),  

Thailand is the world's 50th-largest country.

The country has always been called Mueang Thai by its citizens.

By outsiders prior to 1949, it was usually known as Siam

 

Around 90% of Thai people are Buddhist.

And the most of The Thai´s are religious.

 

Thailand has houndreds of islands and they are known in Thai as ”Koh”

 

Bangkok is the capitol city of Thailand and the real name of Bangkok

is probably the longest word in the world:

It means The City of Angels

Another word for Bangkok and used by the Thai´s is,

Krung Thep Maha Nakhon

 

Ayutthaya emerged as a dominant centre in the late fourteenth century.

Ayutthaya is also the old capitol city of Thailand.

 

Muay Thai boxing is Thailand´s national sport. Also known as

The art of eight limbs”.

 

Thailand is known as ”The land of smiles” and the friendly Thai´s

really live up to that name too.

 

The weather and climate in Thailand is tropical. It is relatively hot

all year round, and it has officially 3  main seasons.

 

Summer (March – June) Temperatures can soar above 40 degrees

while the hottest month is April.

 

The rainy season (July – October) This season brings a lot of rainfall,

usually in late afternoons and early morning.

 

The cool season ((November – February) is the most welcomed season.

It brings a dry and pleasant climate with temperatures rarely

above 35 degrees.
